iOS COMPANION APP
DW Drums has built its reputation on craftsmanship, customization, and sound. For decades, the brand has produced some of the most iconic drum kits in the world, trusted by professionals across every genre. But for all that depth, one part of the experience was missing: the ability to actually hear and compare one of the most important components of any kit, the snare drum.
While DW offers a wide range of kits, the variety of snare drums far exceeds them, especially at the custom level. Different shell materials, sizes, and constructions all produce distinct sounds, but understanding those differences requires more than product specs and photography. For most players, choosing the right snare still comes down to guesswork. I saw an opportunity to close that gap.
The idea was to create a mobile experience that brought the decision-making process into a more immersive, hands-on environment. Inspired by a studio setting, the app allows users to explore and compare seven core snare drum types, each representing a different shell material. Instead of reading about tonal differences, users can hear them in real time, tapping through each configuration to understand how material impacts sound.

Beyond the core snare experience, the app expands into a broader look at what defines the DW brand. Users can explore a curated selection of woods, finishes, and hardware options, reinforcing the depth of customization available. Artist profiles highlight some of the world’s top drummers, connecting product craftsmanship to real-world performance and credibility.
The result is a digital product that feels like a natural extension of the brand, moving beyond a traditional browsing experience into something more interactive, educational, and true to how musicians actually engage with their instruments.
