Sampling was one of vitaminwater’s most powerful growth drivers. Through its fleet of GTVs (Glacéau Tasting Vehicles), the brand brought ice-cold bottles directly to consumers on city streets, college campuses, concerts, and festivals. The challenge wasn’t getting a drink into someone’s hand. It was making the moment memorable enough that they’d come back for another.
We created the Thumb-a-lyzer, a playful way to match consumers with their perfect flavor. Using iPads onboard the GTVs, brand ambassadors invited passersby to place their thumb on the screen and let the app “read their mood.” In just a few seconds, the Thumb-a-lyzer recommended the vitaminwater that best matched their vibe, turning a quick sample into a fun, personalized brand moment.

GTVs (Glacéau Tasting Vehicles) were built to bring vitaminwater straight to the people. Part street team, part moving billboard, they drove trial by showing up where consumers already were: city streets, concerts, festivals, and college campuses. Instead of waiting to be discovered on a store shelf, the brand pulled up curbside with ice-cold bottles in hand. If you spotted a GTV rolling in, chances were good you were about to discover a new favorite flavor.
